1. Make all legislators and Senators take part, giving up their SPECIAL benefit package.
2. Make everyone who has an income of $90,000 or more give up their right to collect.
3. Give everyone who makes less than $90,000 an OPPORTUNITY to invest in the market - IF they so choose. The percentage they choose to invest would be deducted by the same percentage of any SS benefits they might be eligible for at retirement age, whatever that might be at the time.
I am sure the legislators would not like this but if proposed I am sure the PUBLIC would support it 80% to 20% When their constituents are that much in favor I think they might have second thoughts and be willing to give up their perk.

Black female POW last year
I am a Korean War Veteran. I was in Korea for 18 mons during the years 1952 and 53. I saw my share of wounded and killed soldiers, since I was in the medics. But I never saw a soldier, nor heard of a soldier, surrendering, being wounded, getting a Bronze Star. For what? She was a cook, and happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Does that qualify as "Gallantry"? This "Award" does not make thousands of soldiers who EARNED it thru their heroism shudder. Many of those gave their lives to earn a Bronze Star.
She did deserve the Purple Heart as her wounds were due to enemy fire, but the Bronze Star was not deserved . I would hate to think that it was awarded just bcause she was a Black woman soldier. If so then it would denigrate all those true heros who Earned their Stars
