 Dissed Blacks

Mr. Deggins:
Give it a break will you? I am so tired of hearing you complaining about how the Black population is being "Dissed". You have been given everything you have. You cried till you got actors on just about every TV show and in every movie. These actors did not play garbage collectors, or janitors. They were given roles they would never have had in real life. They were/are Generals, Presidents, computer wizards, geniuses, saviors of the human race; and still you complain.
Now, it seems, you want every one to be FORCED to WATCH the shows they are in.. Could it be that the shows and the Black actors are just not good enough to be kept on TV? Or should any shows with Blacks in it be given extra POINTS in their ratings, just as you get extra points to go to college?
Spend more time reading Bill Cosby and Bill Maxwell, instead of whining about why you are not getting what you have not earned.

 Light rail and Buses

Mr. Troxler:
I keep reading about how people should stop using their cars and start using the Bus, and a "Proposed" light rail line. Unfortunately they don't go where I want to go.
Example. I live in Sea Towers, Madeira Beach. My Dr practices on Seminole Blvd, up near East Bay. How do I get there? Now, how do I get there, if I an incapacitated?

My Publix is at 113th and Seminole. How do I get there, and back WITH ALL MY GROCERIES?

Those are just two examples. Now, suppose I am a Sr and have to do those things. Neither a Bus---which does not come past us, nor a train, which we do not have, and could not use if there was one, would help us at all. I can not ride a bike, and I do not have a skateboard. One of the new Segeways might work IF it had a basket for packages.

I believe this kind of thinking would make a great article. It would make people think REALISTICALLY at least

 Pinellas Co Issues

Ms Gallucci
You asked for opinions on the following :
Which of the following issues should be the highest priority for Pinellas County Commissioners?
Answer---Holding down spending and REALLY lowering Taxes. Just lowering the rate will not do it. All that happens is that the Assessor just raises the Value of my property, based on what SOMEONE ELSE was able to sell their house for a couple years ago.
Second part. Stop allowing people to put a couple cows on their property, at a fee of $2.00 a year for a "Tax Break".
Third part Do not BUY any property that has been assessed by anyone working in the Tax office.
IS THAT ENOUGH ON THAT SUBJECT?

Next is How would I rate the job being done by the County Commissioners?
Answer--- You are foolish to ask. I could use many words, but , since you are a Lady, I will just say
L O U S Y

Next is do I think Pinellas Government has learned from its mistakes?
Answer--- N O and If I had larger letters I would use them. As long as there is someone who has a "Friend" in Government, there will be people out to make a buck, and there is nothing the Public can do about it, but "Throw the Rascals out" Meanwhile the people involved make bunches of illegal money, and do not spend any time in Jail.

Next is what areas of spending do I think should be reduced?
Answer---- Start at the top, instead of the bottom. Cut the Salaries of the top management, then work your way down.. The Police are always crying "Poor". Then, if they get a scratch they want to retire on Disability. Same with Firemen. Then it turns out they get another job and "Surprise" they really can still work, and collect at the same time.
Second--Ease off . big time, on the environmental stuff. All it does is make doing ANYTHING more expensive, and does not affect that imaginary thing they call Global Warming. We have had many Ice Ages, and many warming trends. Just look at how far out in the Gulf the land was, until our Ice age ended. We will have another, and another.
Third. why do we need animal control? Is it that big of an expense? Generally you come up with a half dozen other things that you think people will cry about. All the Social services; the free food; the "Homeless"; Child services. (If people can not pay to take care of their own children, they should not have them). Why should I pay?

That's enough for now. I bet you are sorry you asked.

 Corn for N Korea

I am having a hard time believing this.

N. Korea has been listed as on of the three most dangerous countries. They refuse to let inspectors in to look at their nuclear program. They insist it is for "Peaceful purposes". We have been trying to get them to the "Table", unsuccessfully. Now, it seems, we are bribing them. We have just started to give them a total of 500,000 tons of corn. The key word is GIVE. I wonder how much will actually get to the poor people , and how much will be stolen, or sold on the black market by the Government?

Now for a more unbelievable part. Our Farmers, in the midwest, are being affected by floods, and may have a problem growing as much corn as usual. A much larger amount of corn is being used to produce ethanol. Both these things will raise prices for the American public.

Besides all that, the Government "Subsidizes" the farmers, so they will not lose any money, due to this "Disaster". This seems to mean WE are paying at least twice for everything. Once on the market place, and once by way of our taxes.

Now, our Government is GIVING away half a million tons of corn to one of our stated "Enemies". As far as I know, our FRIENDS get nothing. I am shocked.

 UHURUS

Subject: Before anyone else writes

I just saw a small article in the Times today. It announced a meeting , coming up, between the Rays, the city and the UHURUS. It is supposed to be about the Proposed new stadium. I am here, in advance of the meeting, to tell you what it will be about.

The UHURUS will come in there and DEMAND that there should be BLACK contractors given preference in the construction phase. THEN they will DEMAND that a large percentage of the resulting jobs will be given to Blacks AFTER the stadium is built.

Would anyone care to make a bet on that?

All this may mean nothing since I have not seen ANYTHING that says that a new Stadium WILL be built. I see a lot of articles indicating HOW we are going to pay for it, how the Tropicana area will be redeveloped, etc. But I see nothing about how the Rays are going to be allowed to vacate their 20 year contract, and get US to pay for a new Stadium.

When will we see that? It seems the CART, as usual, is being put before the horse.
