When does it end? Hundreds of Blacks kill Blacks, and they do not say a word. They do not "Rat out" the brothers. BUT, if a White Policeman kills or injures one, they scream "Racism".

When they riot and burn down buildings and even their own homes, it is always someone else's fault. Someone else is supposed to rebuild and give them a new house. Meanwhile they are enjoying the TV they stole during the riot.

Now this lady wants the Government (Us taxpayers) to pump millions of dollars into the south side . That has been done before, and the businesses failed. The population objected to the owners putting up Steel doors and windows to stop the robberies . I wonder why?

The latest is that they now want "REPARATIONS" because "They were underpaid since the beginning of St. Petersburg's founding. Give me a break. They were and are underpaid because they have decided that education is not important. They can make more selling drugs. They still have the WELFARE MENTALITY . Uncle owes us a living, because "7 generations ago my relative was a slave".

They want reparations for that also.

Bill Cosby has it right, and I have seen and read other Blacks who have it right. Among them , Bill Maxwell. Unfortunately they are not being listened to by the Black community. They still have the feeling that everything is owed to them, and the reason they do not have it is because of their skin color. When they get over that, their situation will improve.

Before starting ,you should know that I am a white male, living in St Petersburg. I moved here from Pennsylvania in 1994. While growing up I had no colored friends or students in either Elementary, High school or College. My first experience with people of color occurred in the Army. I had no problems nor did I feel that I should treat them differently than my white friends.

When I got out of the service, I met and worked with a few colored, and had one especially good friend whom I socialized with, in my home and out in the public arena.

We stayed in contact for many years, till he moved away. >From that point on I had no occasion to associate with people of color.

Over the intervening years I found that their Given name” was changing. We now had to call them “Negro”, as per the NAACP. Then several years later they demanded to be called “Black”. That lasted for several more years until they now demand to be called “African American”. The only thing we can not call them is the N bomb. Of course they can use it among themselves, and on TV and in movies. If we use it, we are RACISTS. I find all this very strange since none of the rest of the Americans hyphenate their origin and attach it to their name. Scratch that. I now see that the Illegal Mexicans and Legal Latinos want to be called “Latino Americans” Before long there will be no REAL Americans. I have come to the conclusion that by doing this they think they can demand special treatment. Maybe they can. It seems our Legislators give them whatever they wish, in an attempt to get their votes.

As you may have noticed, they have been allowed a “BLACK CAUCUS” and now a “LATINO CAUCUS”. Can you imagine the yelling and screaming if we all of a sudden, had a “WHITE CAUCUS”?

I am sure you can all remember when Miss America was composed of white women. Many years ago the NAACP and Civil Liberties forced the inclusion of Black contestants, and were not happy till a Black woman won. Of course this sort of backfired since she was later disqualified. Now they have a “Black Miss America”, which white contestants are not allowed to take part in. Can you picture the yelling if we had a “White Miss America”? As you can see, there is a definite double standard. And they call us RACISTS. Can you say after me “Cake and eat it too?”

Blacks are continually complaining that they do not “Get what we deserve” because of their skin color. Think back. Everything they have gotten, starting with Lincoln, was given to them by WHITE MEN. The Constitution was changed. Laws were passed. All giving them more than they earned. A goodly number are still living on the Government’s dole.

Strangely enough, we are not allowed to celebrate Lincoln’s Birthday—or Washington’s. BUT we have to celebrate Martin Luther King’s. Not only that, we now have a whole MONTH dedicated to Black History. We now also have Black Lawyers, Black Journalists, Black everything. But no one can have a White anything or we are RACISTS. Each day there is something else for them to become “DISSED” about. A cartoon, a picture, a word in a book, a joke. Where does it end? What happened to our most precious “FREEDOM OF SPEECH”? People are afraid to even refer to Black people without looking around to make sure they are not heard. Now people are afraid to NOT vote for a Black person for fear of being thought a RACIST. The word is capitalized since it is almost treated like a RED BRAND on your forehead.

Now to the flag. About 16% of our population is Black. Yet, as you can see from my previous statements, they are exerting MUCH more pressure than the other 84%, and getting away with it.

A group of people who had a history that involved 13 States, are being castigated for wanting to preserve THEIR history. Part of that history is represented by the Confederate flag. The Confederacy fought for “State’s Rights”, and lost. I have heard that War called many things. The War of Northern Aggression. The War between the States. The Civil War. I even heard it called, “That Recent Unpleasantness”. BUT I have NEVER heard it called “The war to free the slaves”.

Blacks, Black organizations, and weak kneed Legislators around the country are changing laws stopping Southern peoples from recognizing THEIR History. When will we ever see a “Southern History Month”? As you can see, from reading the Newspapers, and viewing on TV, the screaming has already started about the FLAG at rt 75 and rt 4.

I never saw anyone yelling at the Black Power flags, or the Mexican and Cuban flags that fly all over Florida. It seems that if you are a “MINORITY” you can GET anything, and complain about EVERYTHING, then our “Concerned “ legislators will rush out to make sure they get their vote. When do I, a member of the White Majority, get my needs fulfilled?

I say, FLY THE FLAG . Give the MAJORITY a chance to be heard, for a change.

I read your letter in the Chatterbox, and would like to comment. Take it for what it is worth.

Years ago I was President of a School Board in Pennsylvania. When I first took that office I decided to make some changes. Sitting on my right was the School District's Lawyer. He proceeded to tell me that I could not do the things I wanted to do. I told him that , as our attorney, his job was to find a way for me to do what I wanted to do, not tell me what I could NOT do. And I fired him on the spot..
You do not pay an attorney , in any situation, to tell you what you can not do. He is supposed to find ways so you can do what you WANT to do..
You probably noticed what happened with the Pinellas School Superintendent. He and the Lawyer clashed. The Lawyer thought he was running the school district. Unfortunately the Board felt, as so many do----that the lawyer could not be wrong---so they did not back up the Superintendent and he decided to go elsewhere.
Whenever there is a Lawyer involved, he will try to run things. Your job, and the other Governor's jobs are to do what we, the residents, want. We live here, and we pay the bills. I and, I am sure many others do not appreciate being told what we can and can not do in our own homes and back yards.We should make the rules, not some attorney.
I was pleased to hear that committees were being formed ,composed of owners, to make some decisions.. Remember that old adage about Power tending to corrupt.

I read your long story about the 4 boys who were shot and their mother's stories. What was not included was information on the FATHERS of the boys. Since two girls were pregnant at ages 16, one at 14 and the last was on her second pregnancy at age 17, were the Fathers arrested? If not did they marry the girls? Did they pay support for their children?

I think another follow up needs to be written.

I was President of a School Board in Pennsylvania and had to deal with Teachers, at all levels. My personal opinion is that the biggest problems is Teacher's Tenure, and Teachers Unions. If you get a bad , or incompetent teacher, he/she practically has to kill someone to get rid of them. Their Union will protect them, no matter what.
Naturally the Union is against Merit pay. That is anti-union. Everything in the area of salary MUST be based on years and education. Otherwise there is no need for a Union.
In PA teachers did not just get one raise per year, and it may be that way here also. They got a raise as a result of a new union contract. They got an additional one for the extra year they were employed. Then they got another one in the event that they got additional credits. (Which the school district paid for). So, as you can see, they got three raises per year. They work for 9 months a year and constantly complain that they are under paid. Most of the time they have summer jobs as well..
What I think would be good for both the teachers, students and the district, would be year round schools. The children would get staggered vacations. The teachers would work, and get paid for 12 months, and the district would not have schools sitting idle for 3 months. That is a waste.
I do hope you really get a chance to read this entire letter, and after considering it, pass the suggestions along to the powers that be. I am sure the Union will fight it to the death, but that is to be expected.
