Over the past 2 years I have written several "Letters" concerning juvenile crime reporting, and the benefits of same. None of which were printed. I was VERY happy to see that it was done in the recent crime of a physical attack on a 16 year old girl by 8 classmates.

It is long overdue . I am a firm believer that IF a juvenile commits a crime and "Gets away with it" that they will do it again and again, and each time the crime's seriousness will escalate. This has happened in the past and will happen again, UNLESS they are stopped at the first one. What better way than to PUBLISH their names and pictures in the paper and on TV. And make sure that their records are NOT expunged. Do the crime, serve the time and make sure everyone knows about it. That will get their attention.

Right now, juveniles are being "Recruited" by adults to do crimes because both the adults and the juveniles know that NOTHING will happen to them. Maybe a slap on the wrist and the records will be cleared, allowing them to start over.

The St. Pete Times is to be commended for having the courage to print the names and pictures of these criminals. I will bet my last dollar that they will not do anything again that is against the law. There may be some thought that "Big Brother" is bad news, but the News can stop the NEED for Big Brother.

I have not seen anything about this subject since the "Campaign" started many months ago. Senators Clinton, Obama and McCain have been on the Trail trying to win the nomination for President. Because of that they are not in Washington doing the job they were elected to do. Are they still getting paid? If so, WHY? We, the taxpayers are not getting our money's worth. They get a salary, and get credit towards a pension, and we get TV ads paid for by contributors. I believe that their salaries should be forfeit UNLESS they are doing their job.

How can this happen? A large corporation,(Progress Energy) gives us an estimate for construction, and a year or so later the estimate Triples. Can it possibly be because they are being allowed to get their construction money upfront from the public? If they make the estimate higher, they can collect MORE money quicker. Surprise.

I still can not understand how a company can be allowed to do that. No other company is allowed that privilege. If I wanted to start a company to sell a product to the public, do you think I would be allowed to charge the public for my product or services in advance? Maybe I could if I had the support of the Legislature. How can I get that? Any ideas would be appreciated.

As to the promised "Lower Rates" later. I will never live long enough to see them. Meanwhile I pay an "Assessment".in advance.

Once again I have to agree with Bill Maxwell. It doesn't happen often, but this is a big one. I am sure he still has the faith preached to him by his Mother and his Church, but he separates the Science from the Faith.

I find it hard to believe that there are still people out there who actually believe that this Earth was made in 6 days, and that man was made, by some entity, of dirt and a woman was made from one of his ribs. The Old Testament which is their source for this information, was NOT written by GOD. It was written by men.

If people wish to believe this, I have no problem with that; BUT that is not science, and should not be taught as if it was.

The School Board chose to be in favor of Science. They were aware that they would lose Federal Funds, since they would be violating the separation of Church and State. The schools would then be "Religious" and not eligible for those moneys.

I, and others, could spend many hours debating the different parts of the Bible, but it would be useless, since their response would be based on FAITH, NOT SCIENCE.

I would expect the Board, and now Ms Storms, to state their individual Religious beliefs, just as the Presidential Candidates have done. Let us know where you are really coming from.

Are we gradually getting to the point where "Disbelieves" will be burned at the stake? After Scientology, who is next?

I read the large article today (Sun) about the problems with Pain medications. First let us establish one fact .Pain is a SYMPTOM, not a disease. If you have pain, there is a CAUSE. PAIN is a WARNING that something is wrong. If you take any pain "Killer" you are HIDING a symptom which can be helpful in finding out what is wrong with you.

At the same time, you are exposing your body to a substance which can do you harm. It may make you feel better temporarily, but as your article has stated, along with its contributors, you can die as a result of taking that "Blessed" pain killer. We have hundreds of life THREATENING (not life saving) drugs on the market . Just listen to the advertisements on TV and listen CLOSELY to the side effects. Some, blatantly state that you could die as a result of taking them. And the FDA has approved them for human use.

If you took every pill that is advertised on TV for the most minor problems, and you took them EVERY DAY, as they recommend, you could die then also. NO ONE has ever tested those pills in conjunction with one another. In effect, you are a Guinea Pig. If you die, no problem, they'll just pay compensation to the victim's family and sell some more, hoping that the next batch will be OK. Again, the FDA does nothing. Your life is at stake. ASK QUESTIONS. Don't take any combination that has not been tested and found safe. And do NOT hide your symptoms. Find out what is causing them and you will live a longer, and happier life.
